Post COVID-19 working project briefing for contributor recruitment
Buildoffsite is carrying out research into the management of the construction project design process during the COVID-19 lockdown. This is being done by Nigel Fraser and Rachel Rosser of West One Management Consulting. Nigel Fraser is currently one of our Industry Advisors. He has recently coedited and project managed our Overbuild Guide for linear infrastructure.
This research project aims to assess the impact of COVID-19 on ways of working and inform how the design management process could evolve. In particular (but not exclusively) with respect to how work packages are managed. We want to capture the lessons learnt in terms of both what went well and things that did not. We also want to look at how processes used in other sectors may help resolve some of the challenges we have had.
We will be collecting data through one to one telephone interviews, three online round table discussions and an online survey. We would like to recruit designers to contribute to this. We are aiming to include architects, structural engineers, mechanical services engineers, electrical services engineers, specialist engineers, project managers, BIM managers and offsite manufacturers and to include junior staff, middle and senior management.
Support requested:
We would kindly request your support in nominating:
- A candidate for the round table sessions, which are planned to take one hour
- Candidates for shorter one to one interviews
- Candidates to whom we can send online Survey Monkey questionnaires, which we expect to take about 15-20 minutes to complete.
Please would you provide the email and telephone contact details of candidates to Rachel Rosser, the research assistant for the project. It would also be helpful if you would advise the proposed candidates that they can expect to be contacted and so they can let Rachel know if and when they will be taking holiday in August. Your assistance with this is much appreciated. Hopefully we can help the sector consolidate the learning from this challenging period.
We look forward to hearing from you.
